Sunday Post--April 7

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This is where I look back at the last week and look ahead to what I might be doing next week.

Last Week

Around the House
Spring Clean-up in Iowa
We haven't been around the house too much. We drove from Maryland to Iowa for a quick trip to see some of our family. We've been having a great time here in Iowa and though we don't see flowers blooming or trees leafing out yet it's in the 60's. Nice to have some warm weather. We haven't had more than a day or two in the 60's in Maryland so far this year and we are quite a bit further south than Iowa. I guess it's supposed to get into the 70's there next week. Yay!

On my blog
I signed up for Goodreads this week. I wish I had done it several years ago, but I'm enjoying it now. It's a great place to connect with other people reading the same kinds of books I do and also to list the books I've read.

Even though we spent much of the week traveling, I managed to post some things on the blog this week:

The Sunday Post--March 31

April 2013 Books

Review: Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down by Lisa Olsen

Books read
I read several books last week:

Monster in My Closet by R. L. Naquin (review pending)

Apocalyptic Moon by Eva Gordon (review pending)

The Scrapyard Incident by Phillip Nolte (review pending)

E-books bought
Cold Magic by Kate Elliott

Pooka in My Pantry by R. L. Naquin

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

Fledgling by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller

Storybound by Marissa Burt

Wide Open by Deborah Coates

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

The Heart of Matter by Evan Currie

I'm excited to read some of these books. Other than the books by Steve Miller/Sharon Lee, R. L. Naquin and Kate Elliott I haven't read any of these authors' books. It's always fun to find new authors and one of my reading challenges this year is to read new authors. I'm doing a good job with that so far!

Next Week

We will be driving back home next week. We plan to get back on Tuesday evening. It has been a lot of driving, but my husband and I enjoy traveling together and it's so much fun to see family and friends. But it will be good to get back to my cats.

On the blog
I'm hoping to add a couple of reviews.

  1. Cold Magic looks really promising, though.. I should probably stop with the first impression-sharing. ;D

Wow, can't believe you weren't on Goodreads earlier! But I'm glad you are now. I love it, though all the wank is getting on my nerves lately.

In any case, I hope you enjoy your books and have a good time in.. are you still in Iowa? If so, Iowa. ;)

    1. I really should have gotten on Goodreads sooner...just the time I do it and there may be changes because of Amazon. I sure hope not.

We were in Iowa this morning. We drove through Chicago, stopped and visited sister-in-law and now are in Indiana! Lots of driving, but a beautiful, sunny day.

  2. Welcome to Goodreads! Judging by some of your Top Ten Tuesday posts, we have some reading tastes in common. Since I don't see a link to your Goodreads, allow me to extend an invitation: search for "The Bookwyrm's Hoard" and send me a friend invite.

And yes, it's going to be warmer her in the DC area this week -- though we appear to be jumping from late winter to early summer in one fell swoop. Last week, the 40s and low 50s, this week, near 80. *shakes head* I think Mother Nature is confused. ;-)

    Have a great trip back.

    1. I will search for you on Goodreads!

It will be nice to have some warmer weather, but it does sound a little confused.

  4. What's Storybound about? It looks like young adult or maybe a kids book??

  5. Yeah, it is more of a kids' fantasy book. It may be too juvenile, but it looked kind of fun. Too bad I don't know a child of 10 or so who I could read it to...lol.
